چکیده

We present a definition of wavelet-bicoherence based on waveletpolyspectra. We propose a simple estimator for wavelet-bicoherence, and discuss its statistical properties. In particular it is shown that wavelet-bicoherence estimates has a larger number of effective degrees of freedom than traditional Fourier-based bicoherence estimates. The proposed estimator is applied to detection of coherent couplings in rocket measurements from the ionospheric E-region. It is concluded that wavelet-bicoherence is a well suited tool for analysis of non-stationary mode coupling.

Some New Methods for Prediction of Time Series by Wavelets

Extended Abstract. Forecasting is one of the most important purposes of time series analysis. For many years, classical methods were used for this aim. But these methods do not give good performance results for real time series due to non-linearity and non-stationarity of these data sets. On one hand, most of real world time series data display a time-varying second order structure. On th...

Wavelet bicoherence: A new turbulence analysis tool

A recently introduced tool for the analysis of turbulence, wavelet bicoherence [B. Ph. van Milligen, C. Hidalgo and E. Sánchez, Phys. Rev. Lett. 16 (1995) 395], is investigated. It is capable of detecting phase coupling nonlinear interactions of the lowest (quadratic) order with time resolution. To demonstrate its potential, it is applied to numerical models of chaos and turbulence and to real ...

Cross-frequency coupling during isoflurane anaesthesia as revealed by electroencephalographic harmonic wavelet bicoherence.

BACKGROUND Fourier bicoherence has previously been applied to investigate phase coupling in the EEG in anaesthesia. However, there are significant theoretical limitations regarding its sensitivity in detecting transient episodes of inter-frequency coupling. Therefore, we used a recently developed wavelet bicoherence method to investigate the cross-frequency coupling in the EEG of patients under...

A Time-Frequency approach for EEG signal segmentation

The record of human brain neural activities, namely electroencephalogram (EEG), is generally known as a non-stationary and nonlinear signal. In many applications, it is useful to divide the EEGs into segments within which the signals can be considered stationary. Combination of empirical mode decomposition (EMD) and Hilbert transform, called Hilbert-Huang transform (HHT), is a new and powerful ...

Nonlinear and Non-stationary Vibration Analysis for Mechanical Fault Detection by Using EMD-FFT Method

The Hilbert-Huang transform (HHT) is a powerful method for nonlinear and non-stationary vibrations analysis. This approach consists of two basic parts of empirical mode decomposition (EMD) and Hilbert spectral analysis (HSA). To achieve the reliable results, Bedrosian and Nuttall theorems should be satisfied. Otherwise, the phase and amplitude functions are mixed together and consequently, the ...
